2021 Carter Cellars LPV La Bam

"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La BAM is the largest production cuvée from this site, although there are still just a miniscule 154 cases produced. Coming from a parcel of slightly deeper soils, its saturated purple hue is followed by a brilliant perfume of crème de cassis, smoked tobacco, dark chocolate, crushed stone, and new leather. It's pure, focused, and precise aromatically and hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a terrific sense of minerality, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It shows the vintage’s tighter, more focused, straighter profile (this cuvée is usually one of the most approachable of the three Las Piedras releases) and deserves 4-5 years of bottle age. It's going to have 20-25 years of overall longevity. It's another stunning wine from this vineyard." 100 Jeb Dunnuck

2021 Carter Cellars LPV La Verdad

"In comparison to the Los Compadres, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is darker, more closed, and reserved, yet is clearly loaded with potential. Ripe blue fruits, scorched earth, darker chocolate, green tobacco, baking spices, and beautiful spring flower notes define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, pure, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a gorgeous finish. This is clearly a more elegant, nuanced expression of the cuvée from Bevan that benefits from a decant if drinking any time soon. It will ideally be given 4-5 years of bottle age and will have 2-3 decades of overall longevity." 98+ Jeb Dunnuck

2021 Carter Cellars LPV Los Compadres

"Coming from vines planted in 2001 and based on Clone 337, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Los Compadres is absolutely stunning and has incredible purity in its crème de cassis, spring flowers, chocolate, crushed stone, and graphite-driven aromas and flavors. Certainly a more showy, extroverted wine compared to the La Verdad, it nevertheless isn't anywhere close to being over the top and has full-bodied richness, a perfectly balanced, layered mouthfeel, wonderful tannins, and a great, great finish. This is pure Napa Valley magic and will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and cruise for 20-25 years in cold cellars." 98 Jeb Dunnuck
