2021 Riverain Reserve

"There are a scant 160 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tench Vineyard The Reserve, which is a tiny barrel selection. It's actually hard to pick a favorite between this and the classic Tench Vineyard, as both are incredible wines, with the Reserve offering darker, powerful aromatics of smoky black fruits, crushed stone, and graphite. A more backward, primordial, massive wine, it hits the palate with tons of fruit, a dense, layered mid-palate, huge tannins, and a great finish. It will probably merit a perfect rating in a decade." 98+ Jeb Dunnuck

2021 Maybach Materium 

"Absolute pure perfection in wine, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium comes from the Weitz Vineyard in Oakville and is all varietal raised in mostly new barrels. It's deep, saturated purple hue is followed by a kaleidoscope-like array of black and blue fruits, chocolate, gravelly earth, and tobacco, and it picks up an undeniable sense of minerality with time in the glass. Full-bodied and incredibly concentrated, with a stacked mid-palate and building yet perfect tannins, this magical effort blends power and elegance flawlessly. It needs at least 4-5 years in the cellar, but this is a heavenly Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon I wish every reader could taste.
